Boho Luxe // Davis Style

Laura + Paul 6.10.20

Some days aren’t like any other and boy was this fine day certainly one of those days.

But before I start to waffle on, I think the only way to really introduce the Mr and Mrs Davis is with their film by Jono Symonds, enjoy.

Laura + Paul - two of the biggest hearts you’ll ever meet. Their original Balinese wedding plans were 'Covided', so fed up with the whole shit show and caboodle, and desperate to just get married, they got in touch. They first visited in August and we discussed ideas, Laura had a gorgeous image in her head, but her only stipulation was that she didn’t want to feel like they were compromising by having their day in the middle of a global pandemic. So they didn’t. Not one single bit. They went all ‘out out’ and it was utterly incredible in every way.

When they left that day, Laura’s face had us choked. She looked so excited and happy and relieved! They’d both been through the mill thanks to Covid, but her big gorgeous smile and Paul’s loving grin back said it all. They had new plans to look forward to and they were actually getting married.

Paul insisted on one long trestle table like what they originally had planned but then he was happy for Laura to get scheming. And scheming did we do! After a few more emails and calls I shared a few of our fave suppliers with Laura those who I knew could create exactly what she had in mind and blow everyone’s socks off too.

Janet from Wilde and Romantic was brought on board to style the day with her treasure trove of goodies and beautiful eye for detail. From cut glassware and beautiful white and gold china, to stunning brass lanterns and soft vintage pink vases. Jill Liley Lettering created gorgeous signs and place names to match too and Eden Event hire was called in with their gorgeous rustic trestles.

The incredibly talented women at Greenhouse Floristry were all set with the most amazing (and the very last of the season’s) dahlias and soft hued roses, along with dried grasses they’d collected. All ready to be pieced together in nothing else than can be described as magical floral wizardry. Team this with Janet’s talents and a ceremony led by Cumbria Registrars, you’ve got something rather special indeed.

The Stonehouse Smoker was ready with his fire, coals and a whole load of foraged deliciousness and the best produce Cumbria has to offer.

Sally at the Yummy Pudding Company got her mega brief to create a masterpiece with no restrictions on the number of people it needed to feed. And boy did she deliver!

The brilliant Hair and Makeup by Saskia was ready to add all create all kind of boho vibes.

Dancing In the Dark was armed with tunes and despite no dancing allowed, was ready to still create that party atmosphere we all crave so bad.

Dapper Marc Darcy Suits were tailored and ready for the guys and Laura’s incredible Rue De Seine dress from Jean Jackson Couture was hanging up, patiently waiting (and smelling lovely!).

And to capture it all, two awesome chaps, Joe Mather Photography and Jono Symonds on film. Two guys who we are very lucky to work with often and who never fail to bowl us over with the magic they create.

So without further ado, aka any more waffling, this is how it went down…

The day before the The Lovable Old Barn turned into a creative workshop filled with all sorts of props by Janet and flowers by Ashley. There was such a buzz of excitement and joy in the air. It was a Real Wedding again and you could genuinely feel the passion of us all doing cartwheels around the place to be actually doing what we’ve longed to do for so long. Top this off with the look on Laura and Paul’s faces (oh gawd – they got us all this time!) and my goodness it was wonderful to be part of.

The big day. All 'out out' boho gorgeousness! The girls and guys divided for brekkie then Saskia arrived bright and breezy to make a start on hair and makeup.

Once ready, the guys took to the library for a socially distanced wee short. While upstairs Laura finally got to wear her incredible dress. Oh my oh my, she looked insane!

Beautiful best friend Emma, led the way down the aisle, followed by a very proud Paul’s dad with Laura on his arm. The ceremony led by Cumbria Registrars was simply beautiful.

Champagne outside followed, while upstairs got transformed from ceremony to wedding feast.

Laura then switched her heals for Converse and the new Mr and Mrs Davis headed off with Joe and Jono over to the Buttermere Valley for some epic scenery, a jaunt up Rannerdale Knotts and some loved up gorgeousness.

Back in the Lovable Old Barn, rugs were rolled up and their (extra spacious) long table was laid out. Then le pièce de la résistance, Greenhouse Flowers flower cloud of pampas heaven was lifted above two peacock chairs. And, not forgetting The Yummy Pudding Company’s square beauty dressed with fresh and dried blooms in its very own and very stunning display.

Laura and Paul’s reaction when they entered the room was something else, as was everyone’s as they saw the wedding banquet table, cake and flower cloud. Then, an all new level of 'cheers' rose again when the new Mr and Mrs Davis re-entered and Paul said a monumental speech. One that will with out a doubt, go down in Low Hall history. Best man Joe followed with words filled with love and lots of lols too. The Stonehouse Smokery had set to work wood roasting a big Rib of Lakeland Dexter Beef hours before. It went down a treat along with an incredible Soup and Homegrown Plum and Frangipane Tart with Meadowsweet Homemade Ice Cream.

Finally, Dancing in the Dark set the party tone for a night of drinks and celebrating, kicked off with cake cutting and Laura and Paul’s first dance. What a day!

It’s impossible not to get wrapped up in the emotion of the day, but these two really did steal our hearts. So many beautiful things happened, some clearly evident in these gorgeous images and film and others that we’re just honoured to have been part of, so thank you Laura and Paul. We’re so glad you drove up to see us that day and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for choosing Low Hall and creating such dear memories here, for us too. We can’t wait to see your next chapter unfold!
