LAKE DISTRICT ELOPEMENT // LOW HALL STYLE

Updated: Aug 13

'The Date of your Life', that’s how one of our brides recently described her Lake District elopement to us when they came back to show her dad and two year old where they got hitched in 2020. And I guess it really does sum it up in its simplest, most perfect form. A day completely and utterly solely about you two and celebrating the love you have for one another, in the most fabulous, extra way. The most incredible date of your life with no other than the love of your life. 2020 was only our second year in the biz and the year of Covid but one wonderful thing did come out of the pandemic, we discovered the joy and magic of elopements. We created our Little Big Day Lake District elopement package. I hate calling it a package, it sounds so prescriptive and so ordinary, but it really is anything but.

Since creating our elopement package, which we’ll delve more into in a mo, we now also offer even dinkier days, our Whirlwind Elopements for those who just want to come and say their ‘I dos’ with us then head off to celebrate elsewhere, be it in their local or a far flung shore. And, we offer Micro Wedding packages, for up to 30 people, so please get in touch if you'd like to hear more about those.

I’ve often tried to describe an elopement and what makes elopements so incredibly special. I know they’re not for everyone and thank god for that, as we do love our super duper big celebrations here, but these dinky days are so personal and unique to the couple. We’ve all been to weddings, whether a friend's, a family member’s, neighbours or work colleague’s but there’s only a small select few that can say they’ve experienced an elopement and that’s usually just the lucky couple! They're just for you… you two. And maybe your dog. They’re super super special. They are a privilege to host and to witness. Everything you do on that day is for you two, no buts, no debacles, no opinions, no fussy eaters and no plus ones you’ve never met.

So we want to tell you a little bit about our brilliant (if we do say so ourselves) Low Hall the Lakes elopements - we’ll start with the biggy. The Little Big Day. With the Little Big Day, you’ll have the whole place to yourselves for two glorious nights.

Working with a fabulous small team of some of our favourite suppliers, we create something of elopement dreams. We include all of the main crew and they are all seriously good at what they do; florist, photographer, videographer, catering and cake. We also supply; room decor, fizz, wine, a two night stay, a delicious home cooked breakfast both mornings, full on the day coordination, recommendations for any other suppliers and all the help and support you need, on the run up to your special day. All that you two need to do is to book your registrar or celebrant, decide on a colour scheme and a scrummy cake flavour, pick your bling and get something extra fabulous

to wear.

For your big I dos, you have a big decision as we've got some pretty special locations to choose from;

The Woodland, the perfect little woody haven with our babbling brook, Little Sandy Beck running through, the birdies chattering and the most beautiful dappled light beaming on to you as you say your vows.

Then there's the garden, looking out on to the Lorton fells, the grand Hopegill Head and Grizedale Pike. Saunter down your lavender aisle, the farmhouse's garden path, until you meet your love at the wild and blooming pond.

Or get seriously romantic by the fire in the library, with a wonky wall of books as your guests, candles twinkling and the fire crackling. If you love Christmas, this room gets even more magical in December. There really is nowhere cosier.

And if you really want to go to town (or should we say ' to the hills') you could always head up one of our local fells and say your vows at the top with one of our wonderful recommended celebrants. It's then up to you if you'd like to make it legally binding with the registrars here when you get back or in your own time at your local registry office.

On your day, we always highly recommend a trip to one of our local lakes with your photographer and videographer, we'll drive you down armed with some bubbly in the back (or mulled wine, time of year dependant). Whatever the weather or season, it's take-your-breath-away kinda stuff.

Although we include all of the main details, if you want to change things, you can. If you want to invite your bestest pals and family or get a different supplier involved, you can. If you want to go bigger, bring it on. If you want to hike up a mountain in the morning or go skinny dipping after dins, do it - we’ll even guard your pants. We’ve got a wealth of local knowledge and know an abundance of extremely talented suppliers for every detail. From hair and makeup, vintage wheels and musicians, to dog walkers and dapper dog suits. Whatever you need, we’ll help make it happen and work with you every step of the way.

If you actually dream of a whirlwind romance of an elopement, you can do that too. You can experience all of the gorgeousness of Low Hall, get married here in any of the beautiful locations above, then head off after a magical three to four hours here. For these Whirlwind Elopements, you can arrive pre-ceremony to finish off getting ready in one of our suites. After your ceremony, you can soak up the atmosphere and those first married moments, while getting photos around the grounds and supping a bottle of fizz and anything else you may like from the bar. With our Whirlwind Elopements, we include a suite to get ready in, fizz, full on the day coordination, your ceremony and exclusive use of the garden and grounds to get all your pics. Plus, we can recommend suppliers and give you as much help and advice as you need in the run up too. When you leave us, hitched and grinning, it’s over to you as to how you celebrate for the rest of the day. Head off on an adventure with your photographer in tow, get yourselves to a spa, go off grid for a few days, go to the pub or maybe even head off to a local festival like these legends, Louisa and Phil...

And if you’re the kind of couple that always orders something which isn’t on the menu, that’s fine because we are too! If you’d like to stay for two nights or one but do it in a more DIY style and arrange your own suppliers and maybe invite a house full of guests. Let us know and we can create a bundle just for you two.

Now if all that loveliness has you thinking about eloping Low Hall style,
