Here is just a very small selection of some things going on in the county...

GO LAKE HOPPING

This is a great place to tell your story and give people more insight into who you are, what you do, and why it’s all about you.

A TREASURE TROVE OF  DELIGHTS

Find a feast of local independant shops at the  quaint town of Cockermouth. From sumptious antiques and stunning interior shops, to an exceptional butchers, gallery, toy store and all kinds of other local goodies. Go home with something a little more than the usual hiking boots.

Oh and there's plenty of watering holes and tasty grub spots to keep you energy levels up too.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Our events calendar along with other highlights will be

on their way soon but for now, if you want to hear more, you'll have to book a stay!

A beautiful but leisurely walk...

You fancy an epic but relaxed walk around a stunning lake with a refreshing pint or a slice of cake at the end, whip down to Buttermere and take your time walking around the water.

A good old pub

You want a tasty bit of local food and a gloriously good pint with a view, go to the Kirkstyle Inn at Loweswater.

Or if you’re feeling really hungry and could really go a pie, the Wheatsheaf at Lorton is for you.

A walk from the door

You want a walk from the door, meet the River Cocker at the end of the lane and follow it to Cockermouth or head out of the Bridleway and over Lorton Fells at the back.

A wee tipple

You like a wee dram or a gin, make sure you visit the local Lakes Distillery. With excellent tours and food, we bet you won’t come out empty handed. Or head to the local Jennings Brewery in Cockermouth for a fine ale and tour.

A little dip

You’re feeling fresh and fit, (and you’ve packed your wetsuit) the local lakes of Crummock Water, Loweswater and Buttermere are some of the best for open water swimming as they’re the stillist and most clear.

All an easy cycle away if you’re feeling extra fit.

A challenging hike

You want to hike all day and come home windswept and completely pooped, head straight up Red Pike and Dodd, and then all the way over to Haystacks and down. Be warned this is a long one and a tough cookie.

(Pack plenty of cookies).

A day in the woods

You want to get covered in mud at high speeds, zip over to Whinlatter Forest for some mountain biking and finish up at Go Ape while you’re there. Also a great one for kids.

A day down the mine

You want to be told, ‘don’t look down…’  go test your capability of heights at Honister Slate Mine.

A good curry

You fancy some Indian grub to finish the day, call in at the Spice Club in Cockermouth.

A little retail therapy

You want to go home with something a little different, Cockermouth is a treasure trove of antique and independent shops.

A chilled night out

You want a local night out, get down to Cockermouth and pub hop for the evening, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

A visit to Keswick

You need some new walking gear, followed by a pint and some goulash – go to Keswick find your new clobber and call in at the Dog and Gun. Or if you’d rather a cocktail, prop up the bar in the Inn on the Square. Or if you want to dance around a small unsuspecting bar, get yourself to Oddfellows. All good and all an easy taxi ride away if you decide to make a night of it.
